This engine has a 1" x 2-7/8" shaft. You may be able to use the Newer overhead valve Briggs. If you buy the OHV engine with a 3/4" shaft, you will also need to buy the sleeve to raise the shaft to 1" (Sleeve-34-1x220) Please note that the engine is 2" wider on the right side as your looking at the shaft. Also note that the Briggs Intek engines shaft sits about 1" lower than the L-head Briggs. You will need to purchase the spacer kit to lift the engine 1"
