Case 226 Mower, Lawn and Garden Tractor
Onan B43M
Original engine is no longer available Onan B43M-GA016/4183C. I cannot verify what the difference is between the 446 and the 226. We have a kit for the 446 tractor, but I don't know if it will work in this one or not. If you buy the one with a 1" or 1- 7/16" shaft you will have to change your lovejoy coupler, and you'll also have to cut about 1 1/2" of the shaft off. I would guess that our conversion kit that we make for the 446 tractor would also fit this one, however I am not 100% sure on that. Here is a copy of an email that I received on 11-17-07 that may make this a little clearer: Year for year, Case 226 and 446 models were nearly identical in every way. None of the differences will affect the repower kit you offer. The differences are due entirely to the difference in rear wheel diameter. The 200 series uses 12" rims vs 16" for the 400 series. That effects the front end too so a different front axle and spindles were used to level the machines out. The drive motors were of different displacement due to the wheel size difference but the hydraulic pumps remained identical. A hood from a 200 will go right on a 400 of the same year as long as they both had a Kohler or Onan. The only other difference had to do with the length of brackets for the mower deck mounting. In 1982, Jack Ingersoll bought the Case line of GT's and nothing changed on the tractors until Ingersoll reversed the engine in the chassis and then had to offer right discharge decks instead of the traditional left discharge due to the engine rotation being opposie. In other words, your kit will work on all models that preceded this change in engine mounting and those tractors are all called the 3000 and 4000 series. Some had Onans and then Limamars followed by Vanguards. Hope this helps. Cheers, Tom Arnold.
